With used cars though, that is a completely different animal. When we get a 1986 Jeep Commanche truck, or even a 2013 Audi A4, that is the only car of its type in existence. There may be other similar vehicles, but they are all different. Mileage, condition, vehicle history, etc - no two used cars are identical. When interested car buying parties are in the decision making process, they ask us often, "Can you hold the car for me until X date?" Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate those requests.
Much like if one was to call a big box retail store, and ask them to hold the last 55" LCD 240 Hz television, until the weekend, when the caller says they will stop in to purchase it. The answer will be, "No. If you would like, pay for the TV through our website, and we can hold it until you arrive." Car sales are no different in this aspect, it is just a matter of the price that varies.
When customers request a used car be held for any amount of time, they are asking us to turn away other customers who are ready to exchange funds, for a potential sale. Enough customers have requested vehicles be held in the past, and not purchased the held vehicle, to sour car dealers away from this practice.
If our customers see a pre-owned car, truck, SUV, or other vehicle in our inventory, make every effort to stop in as soon as possible! We are unable to hold cars, and hope our customers understand our used inventory will move quickly, if that ideal vehicle is found... don't hesitate.
