2026 SUV Lineup · Subaru of Las Vegas

Which 2026 Subaru SUV is right for you?

Subaru sells five 2026 SUVs — Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, Ascent, and Solterra. The right one comes down to four questions: how much you carry, how often you tow, your fuel-economy priority, and whether you'd charge at home.

01The decision

How to pick the right Subaru SUV for your week.

The right Subaru comes down to four questions: how many seats you fill on a normal Sunday, how often you leave paved roads, how often you tow, and whether you charge at home.

If your primary use is… The right Subaru Why
Single commuter, Henderson-to-Strip, occasional weekend trailhead Lowest MSRP, 26–29 mpg, 8.7-in clearance, 54.7-cu-ft cargo
Family of 4–5, school runs + Costco + Mt Charleston weekends Tall roofline, easy car-seat install, 74.4 cu ft cargo, hybrid for valley stop-and-go
Couple plus dog, Zion plus Death Valley road trips Long-haul comfort, 80.5 cu ft cargo, 3,500-lb tow on XT/Wilderness
Three-row needs, multi-gen household, towing 5,000 lb Only three-row in lineup, 5,000-lb tow rating, 75.6 cu ft cargo
Daily EV driver, home-charging, Las Vegas commute radius Subaru-engineered EV, dual-motor AWD, X-Mode for unpaved access

Source: Model fits paired by the Subaru of Las Vegas sales team based on daily floor conversations with valley buyers. Cargo, towing, MPG and clearance specs from the official 2026 Subaru lineup documentation and EPA fueleconomy.gov.

A common pattern: if you came in thinking Crosstrek, the Outback's redesigned cargo space often changes the conversation. If you came in for an Ascent, sometimes the Forester ends up being the right size once you decide the third row isn't a daily need.

02The lineup

The 2026 Subaru SUV lineup, at a glance.

Five nameplates: Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Ascent, Solterra. Every gas Subaru SUV has Symmetrical Full-Time All-Wheel Drive standard — not a reactive system that waits for slip — plus EyeSight driver-assist and the Lineartronic CVT. The Solterra is dual-motor AWD by EV-platform design. Wilderness trims (Outback, Forester, Crosstrek) add lifted suspension, X-Mode with dual off-road settings, reinforced underbody cladding, and a re-tuned throttle map.

The lineup runs from the subcompact Crosstrek up to the three-row Ascent. If the trim you want isn't on the lot, ask us — most are factory-orderable.

What every gas Subaru ships with

Every 2026 gas Subaru SUV ships with Symmetrical AWD and EyeSight Driver Assist standard, not as an upgrade package. The MySubaru Companion connected-services plan, available on 2026 and newer models, comes with a five-year complimentary trial. The Solterra runs dual-motor AWD by EV-platform design.

Three models, the Outback, Forester, and Ascent, carry the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, the highest safety rating IIHS gives.

Warranty coverage is 3 years / 36,000 miles for the new-vehicle warranty and 5 years / 60,000 miles for the powertrain. The Solterra adds an 8-year / 100,000-mile EV battery warranty with 70% capacity retention guaranteed. Subaru Added Security is available through us if you want extended powertrain protection past the factory terms.

03The Outback

2026 Subaru Outback. The capable all-rounder.

If you haul gear to trailheads, load the dog and the cooler most weekends, and want the most ground clearance without going full off-roader, the Outback usually comes up first. It's the longest-running nameplate in the lineup, redesigned for 2026 as a midsize SUV, with up to 9.5 inches of ground clearance on the Outback Wilderness.

The Outback Wilderness clears 9.5 inches per Subaru, meaningfully higher than a Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V on the trail-rated side. Most non-Wilderness trims use the 2.5L Boxer (180 hp, 27 combined mpg). The XT and Wilderness trims get the 2.4L turbo: 260 hp, 24 combined mpg, 3,500 lb towing.

Why Las Vegas Outback owners choose this model

The Wilderness trim was engineered for unpaved access roads: Lee Canyon, Mt Charleston trailheads, anything off the NV-157 corridor. The 2.4-turbo comes with a re-tuned Lineartronic CVT for better off-road throttle response, and X-MODE (Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud) handles traction on loose desert surfaces automatically. If your week is I-215 commuting plus weekend trail runs, the Wilderness was built for exactly that.

04The Forester

2026 Subaru Forester. The family pick.

If you want the easiest Subaru to live with day to day — upright cabin, simple to park, easy to load kids and groceries — the Forester is what most families land on. It's also where a lot of first-time Subaru buyers start.

Taller, more upright body than the Outback, 8.7-inch ground clearance, up to 74.4 cu ft cargo. The gas trims run the 2.5L Boxer for 26–29 MPG combined EPA-estimated. The Forester Hybrid (broader 2026 trim availability) pairs the same Boxer with electric motors for 35 MPG combined — the highest combined mpg in the gas-AWD Subaru lineup.

Why Las Vegas families choose the Forester

Vertical second-row entry (squared roofline, wide rear-door opening) makes child-seat installation faster than competitors with sloped rooflines. EyeSight is standard across all trims; Limited and Touring add DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation, which uses a driver-facing camera to detect drowsiness and alert before attention lapses. The Forester Hybrid's regenerative braking handles the I-15-to-Charleston-Boulevard stop-and-go better than a non-hybrid CUV.

05The Crosstrek

2026 Subaru Crosstrek. Lifted, compact, lowest MSRP.

If you're shopping for a first car, a solo commuter, or just the easiest Subaru to park — at the lowest starting MSRP — the Crosstrek is the place to start. It's the smallest SUV in the lineup, and the one most buyers in their twenties and thirties pick first.

Most 2026 Crosstrek trims use the 2.5L Boxer (180 hp) with the Lineartronic CVT and clear 8.7 inches — same as the Forester, at the lineup's lowest starting MSRP. The Crosstrek Wilderness sits higher at 9.3 inches with a 182-hp tune. Cargo: 19.9 cu ft behind the second row, 54.7 cu ft with the seats folded.

Why Las Vegas commuters choose the Crosstrek

The Crosstrek is the highest-selling first Subaru for buyers commuting from Henderson, Summerlin, or the southwest valley. Three reasons it keeps coming up:

  • 26–29 combined mpg, among the better figures in its class with AWD standard
  • Lifted ride height for desert roads and trailhead access without needing a dedicated off-roader
  • Price point well below the Outback with nearly identical ground clearance

The 1,500-lb tow rating handles a small camping trailer or a pair of Class III mountain bikes on a hitch carrier.

06Ascent & Solterra

2026 Subaru Ascent. The only three-row Subaru.

If you need three real rows, carpool, grandkids, or a long haul to Bryce with eight people and all the gear, the Ascent is the only Subaru that does it. It's the largest SUV in the lineup and the lone three-row.

It seats 7 with second-row captain's chairs, or 8 with the bench, and tows 5,000 pounds, the highest tow rating in the Subaru lineup. The 2.4L turbo Boxer makes 260 hp and 277 lb-ft, paired with the Lineartronic CVT and Symmetrical AWD. Total cargo with all seats folded is 75.6 cubic feet.

Why Las Vegas Ascent owners choose three rows

Large-family hauling, multi-generation households, and anyone towing a 5,000-lb travel trailer or a side-by-side to Logandale, Pahrump, or the Valley of Fire. The Ascent's third row is genuinely usable for adults on a Sunday Mt Charleston run, not just kids.

Trim ladder (2026): Premium, Limited, Limited Bronze Edition, Touring, Onyx Edition Touring.

2026 Subaru Solterra. The all-electric Subaru.

If you can charge at home and your daily driving stays inside the valley, the Solterra is worth a serious look. Subaru's first EV: dual-motor AWD, X-Mode off-road controls, native NACS port (works directly with Tesla Superchargers, no adapter).

Why Las Vegas Solterra owners choose the EV

The I-215 round-trip from Henderson to Summerlin is well within a single charge. NV Energy off-peak rates make home charging cost-competitive with gasoline. And the Solterra retains 8.3 inches of ground clearance, so unpaved-access weekends to Mt Charleston are still in scope.

07Which Subaru fits your week?

Frequently asked questions about the 2026 Subaru lineup.

How many SUVs does Subaru sell in 2026?

Five: Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, Ascent, and Solterra. Every gas model has Symmetrical AWD and EyeSight standard. The Solterra is the all-electric option, on a dual-motor AWD platform co-developed with Toyota.

Which Subaru SUV has the most cargo space?

The Outback at 80.5 cubic feet with all seats folded — the largest in the lineup. The Ascent follows at 75.6 cu ft, Forester at 74.4, Solterra at 63.5, and Crosstrek at 54.7.

Which Subaru SUV tows the most?

The Ascent at 5,000 pounds, the highest tow rating in the Subaru SUV lineup. The Outback XT and Outback Wilderness reach 3,500 lb; the Forester Wilderness also rates 3,500 lb. Standard Forester and Crosstrek trims are rated at 1,500 lb.

If towing a boat to Lake Mead or a horse trailer to Elko is on the list, the Ascent is the only Subaru built for it.

Which Subaru SUV gets the best fuel economy?

Among gas models, the Forester Hybrid at 35 mpg combined leads. Standard Forester and Crosstrek both return 29 mpg combined. On the EV side, the Solterra is rated 120 MPGe combined and has an EPA-estimated range of 288 miles.

For Las Vegas stop-and-go on the I-215, the Forester Hybrid recaptures braking energy that straight-highway driving would waste, worth asking about if Henderson-to-Strip is your daily run.

Is the Subaru Solterra worth it compared to the Tesla Model Y or Ford Mustang Mach-E?

For Las Vegas drivers who want EV efficiency plus real off-road capability, yes. The 2026 Solterra is the only one of the three with Subaru-engineered X-Mode AWD, 8.3 inches of ground clearance, and 288-mile EPA range. It also adds DC fast charging (rate varies by charger and conditions) and a native NACS port. Service is handled by Subaru University-certified technicians at Findlay, not a third-party EV shop.

For pure highway range or denser cross-country charging coverage, the Tesla Model Y still leads. For day-to-day Las Vegas driving plus weekend trailhead access to Mt Charleston or Valley of Fire, the Solterra is the more capable AWD choice. Contact us to schedule a back-to-back test drive.

Which Subaru SUV is the right first car for a Las Vegas college student?

The Crosstrek. It has the lowest starting MSRP in the lineup, returns 28–29 mpg combined, ships with Symmetrical AWD standard, and clears 8.7 inches — enough for the unpaved access roads to Red Rock, Valley of Fire, and most southern Nevada trailheads.

First-time buyers should ask about the Subaru College Grad Program through Subaru Motors Finance. Details at our financing page or Contact us.
